Girls Trip 2014- Boston

This year, we decided to go visit the city of Boston, Massachusetts. We rented a car so that we could visit other states as well. Our first day there, we drove into the city to do some shopping and just wandering around. We picked up some stuff at our favorite store, Lush, and took it back to the hotel to do facials and drink some fine wine.
We learned the hard way, that Boston loves to overcharge for parking downtown...that is, if you are lucky enough to find a spot. So future reference: TAKE THE SUBWAY! You can purchase a full day of subway transportation for $11. So worth it. The subway is easy to maneuver. The city is as unique as the people with their accents. So, in other words: "Bahhston is a wicked fun city."
On our second day, we drove through New Hampshire and on to Maine to see the ocean, eat some great seafood and visit Kennebunk Port. As usual for any trip that we take together, we got lost....somewhere in the backwoods of Maine. But as with any detour, it was worth it. We found the most beautiful scenery that we would likely have missed if we had stayed on the regular path. We had a wonderful lunch of lobster rolls, crab cakes, fish, and other seafood and it was so good. We also got to stop at a few thrift stores along the way back as well as a suspended bridge, overlooking a mostly frozen river...something I have never seen before. It was breathtaking. Kennebunk Port was a quaint little seaside town. I am sure it is even better during the summer. Something to note: Most things are closed for the season...even public restrooms. I would love to go back and see how bustling that town is during the summer months. As we got back into town, we stopped for dinner in Boston. We ate at Regina's Pizzeria in Little Italy. Soo so good.
On our third day, we tried to visit the Samuel Adams brewery, but our GPS took us to a totally different part of the city, causing us to miss that opportunity. That was ok with us, as we had a lunch date planned with a friend. Kenneth, or as we call him, Boston, met us for lunch across the street from Fenway park. He walked around with us afterwards showing us different parts throughout the city. He even took us by the finish line of the Boston marathon where the bombings occurred. Like my mom and my brother Mark, Kenneth suffers from Cystic Fibrosis and is someday hoping for his turn with a double lung transplant. He is a genuine guy and made us smile the whole time we spent with him. So glad we got to meet him and visit with him!
On our last day in Boston, we dropped off the rental car and had our bags locked up and headed back into the city for last minute shopping and lunch. We had lunch in Chinatown. That was so good. Fried tofu and white rice....*drool. We went back to Faneuil Hall to get some last minute souvenirs and then headed off to the airport. We were lucky enough to get a flight together and I got off in Charlotte as Andrea and my mom headed on to Nashville. Another fun, memorable girls trip in the books.
Here are some pictures from our trip.
Love,
K
